Today, FCS Financial announced it is donating $5,000 to support relief efforts in Texas and other southern states as they recover from a winter storm in February.

The association called on their employees last month to help by matching their donations. The Red Cross Houston Chapter and the Farm Credit System Employee Relief Fund will each receive $2,500.

“The winter storms that hit the southern U.S. wreaked havoc on so many communities,” says David Janish, FCS Financial CEO. “As an agricultural cooperative, we wanted to show our support by helping our rural communities and neighbors during this time of hardship.”

The Farm Credit System Employee Relief Fund is a standing fund available to all Farm Credit employees experiencing financial hardship due to natural disasters like blizzards, hurricanes, wildfires, derechos and other catastrophic events. The relief fund relies primarily on individual donations from Farm Credit employees, as well as support from Farm Credit institutions.

American Red Cross volunteers and staff work to deliver vital services – from providing relief and support to those in crisis, to helping people be prepared to respond in emergencies. They play a vital role in securing temporary housing, food and clothing for those impacted by disastrous events.

“These funds will provide support to those most in need who are experiencing financial hardships,” says Janish. “It was inspiring to see our employees lend a hand through giving.”
