Report Your Spring Crops Today!
The July 15, 2024, deadline for reporting spring crop insurance acres is quickly approaching for Missouri farmers. The Risk Management Agency (RMA) rules require accurate and timely reporting of planted or prevented planting acres for your policy. Penalties for misreported acreage can drastically impact your coverage, so here are a few tips to protect the value of your policy:
- Report acres as soon as you finish planting.
- Be certain that paperwork is signed by the policyholder or authorized representative for the policy or entity.
- For each crop on the policy, submit all insured and uninsured acres in which you have a share. Provide the initial plant date for each field. If you have prevented planting acres, be sure those are also on the acreage report even though a claim has already been submitted.
- Double-check pre-printed share arrangements and be sure to note any changes.
- If you have planted any expired CRP acres, sod-break, added land, or have planted double crop acreage where it is not already insurable discuss that with your agent.
- Make sure your policy name is consistent with how you are reporting at FSA and are selling grain.
- Approved replant and prevented plant claims cannot be paid until the adjuster has completed their paperwork and your acreage report has been submitted and processed by the agency.
After your acreage report is processed a schedule of insurance will be sent to you. Please review this information and notify us immediately if anything is misreported. Revisions to liability after July 15 require approval by the insurance provider and revisions raising liability may be denied.
