The FCS Financial office in Maryville is planting seeds of knowledge across the region by donating agriculture-focused books to all 21 elementary schools within its service area of Atchison, Gentry, Harrison, Nodaway, and Worth counties. This initiative, made possible through the cooperative’s Connecting Rural Missouri program, aims to introduce young students to the world of farming and its vital role in their communities.
FCS Financial’s Connecting Rural Missouri program empowers employees to make a direct impact where they live and work. Employees who see a need in their community can apply for funding to complete or assist with a project. The goal is to create a positive difference in their local communities.
The donated books cover a wide range of agricultural topics designed for young readers, including dairy and milk production, corn and soybeans, greenhouses, and much more. By providing these engaging resources, FCS Financial hopes to give children a foundational understanding of where their food comes from and the diverse career opportunities available in the agriculture industry.
“I'm proud to invest in our local schools as a mom in this community,” said Megann Wiederholt, Financial Services Specialist, Ag & Rural Lending. “It helps us fulfill our agriculture-driven mission by educating and exposing young children to the vast opportunities and importance of this field.”
This donation underscores FCS Financial's commitment to supporting the next generation and ensuring a bright future for rural Missouri.
