Can I still add hail coverage to my 2025 crop? What do I need to do to add it?
Jake Rogers, Vice President, Crop & Livestock Insurance, Chillicothe
Yes, you can still add hail coverage. While hail coverage can be purchased at any point during the growing season, it's important to be aware that there are specific rules regarding the time it takes to bind coverage before a storm. Make sure to discuss these rules with your agent, as they can vary depending on the insurance company. To put hail coverage in place, contact your agent to discuss premium options and coverage amounts, and then complete and sign an application.
It's also worth noting that wind coverage has summer deadlines that differ by insurance company, so if you're considering wind coverage this year, be sure to check those dates with your agent as well.
