Macon staff donated the largest number of socks.

One thing that almost everyone needs…socks. FCS Financial employees donated 1,495 pairs of socks to shelters to start the giving season.

The sock drive began at Thanksgiving and ended yesterday. Employees personally donated socks to their local offices to donate to shelters this month. Why socks? You’re an agriculture company, shouldn’t it be food? We give to food banks throughout the year as a company. This is an employee-driven promotion led by the Elevate team.

Elevate is a team of FCS Financial employees that develops continuous employee engagement programs that provide awareness and communication to FCS Financial employees about the Association programs and initiatives to help keep individuals engaged with the association.

“The importance of socks for health and wellness is not considered until one doesn’t have any socks to put on,” said Tara Ashlock Wieland, Elevate team member. “We are excited to see the level of support from FCS Financial employees for this campaign. We are providing 1,495 pairs of socks to shelters across Missouri.”

The need for socks is great in shelters. Many shelter visitors walk everywhere so socks provide comfort and relief from blisters, often they don’t have money to buy socks or anywhere to wash their socks. The socks also provide warmth in the winter.

Giving is always better with a little competition, each office participating was entered into a drawing to win an additional $500 for their local shelter. The winner of the additional $500 was the Macon office. We’ll post photos of donations on our social media accounts throughout the month of December.
