Farm Bill Adds Crop Insurance Option SCO

What is Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO)?

• SCO provides area-based coverage on top of a regular MPCI individual policy.


• It is an endorsement to the following plans and must be purchased with an underlying policy.
  
  
  
  • Yield Protection (YP)
  
  
  • Revenue Protection (RP): Revenue Protection with the Harvest Price Exclusion (RP-HPE)
  
  
  
  


• The endorsement is available in select counties for corn, soybeans, wheat, sorghum, cotton and rice starting with the 2015 crop year.


• SCO crop insurance coverage can only be purchased on the farms where the PLC farm program option has been chosen.
