Through a mail and electronic ballot, the stockholders of FCS Financial elected three directors who will be installed during the June board of directors meeting. Elected by the cooperative’s member-owners were incumbent Sherry Jones of Dawn, Mo., incumbent Randy Pace of West Plains, Mo., and Jay Moreland of Harrisonville, Mo.
FCS Financial provides credit and financial services to agricultural producers, agricultural-related businesses and rural residents. The board consists of 12 elected and 3 appointed members and has 12 areas of representation.
Jones was elected to a four-year term representing Carroll, Chariton, Grundy, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, and Sullivan counties.
Sherry Jones was raised on a farm in north Missouri and has been involved in agriculture her entire life. She has two children and four grandchildren. Jones and her late husband, Charles, established and operated C.D. Jones Land & Cattle Co. for over 30 years. Today, she and her son, Tyler, continue to operate and expand the family farming corporation which consists of a commercial Angus cow-calf backgrounding and finishing operation in addition to raising corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, and hay.
Jones is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a degree in marketing and finance. She currently serves as Vice President of Livingston County Farm Bureau and is a board member of the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA). She was employed 22 years with Bank Midwest, served nine years on the Missouri Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and 12 years on the Missouri State Fair Commission.
She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church and serves on the finance committee. Jones has served on the FCS Financial Board of Directors since 2012 and is currently a member of the Board Risk Committee.
Randy Pace was elected to a four-year term representing Crawford, Dent, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, Shannon, and Texas counties.
Pace and his wife, Sherry, have three children and three grandchildren. Their family farm consists of approximately 200 commercial beef-cows, a 20,000 hen-layer operation, and fescue, triticale, and Sudan grass baleage production.
Pace graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s in agriculture. He retired in 2017 from FCS Financial after working more than 40 years as an agriculture loan officer. Randy currently is a member of the Board of Directors for Howell County Soil and Water Conservation District, Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, MFA Oil, Inc., USDA Farm Service Agency, and West Vue, Inc., a senior care services facility. He is also an active member of First Baptist Church in West Plains.
Jay Moreland was elected to a four-year term representing Bates, Camden, Cass, Cedar, Henry, Hickory, Johnson, St. Clair, and Vernon counties.
Moreland, in partnership with his brother Mike and nephew Matt, operates the farm started by their grandfather L. C. Moreland in 1936. Until 2018, it was an 80-year-old dairy farm with registered Holsteins for the last 50 of those years and started by Moreland’s father, Charles. Today, the Morelands focus on providing quality butcher beef and replacement heifers from a 100-head Angus cowherd and no-till farming raising corn, soybeans, and hay.
Moreland attended the University of Missouri and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity. For over 25 years, he served as dairy superintendent for the Cass County Junior Livestock Association. Additionally, Moreland has served on the Cass County Farm Bureau Board as a member and president of the University of Missouri Extension Council. He has been a member of the Central Cass Fire Protection District for over 20 years with 10 years as a volunteer firefighter. He is currently the district secretary.
Moreland and his wife, Brenda, have four grown daughters and nine grandchildren. They still have a few registered dairy heifers that the grandchildren exhibit at local, state, and national shows.
