Agriculture is a diverse industry usually located in some of the more remote parts of the country. The risks and occupational exposures associated with farming and ranching are often not familiar to healthcare workers serving rural communities. Nurses are the frontline of rural community healthcare which is why FCS Financial and five other Farm Credit Associations are offering 10 scholarships to nurses to receive training through the AgriSafe Nurses program.
The program consists of 18 hours of distance learning utilizing lectures, interactive question and answer sessions and group discussions. Some of the topics covered include:
- Integration of ag health into a medical practice.
- Special populations (youth, older adult, veterans, immigrant and migrant workers)
- Zoonotic diseases
- Chemical/pesticide exposure
- Personal protective equipment
- Skin disorders
FCS Financial is proud to provide three nurses in our service area a scholarship to complete the AgriSafe Nurse program. This scholarship is fully paid, there is no expense to the nurse or their employer.
We take pride in providing this resource to nurses who serve Missouri’s farmers and ranchers. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Agrisafe Network. Anyone interested in obtaining this training should complete the Agrisafe Nurses Scholarship Application.
