Scott Stone, Centralia FFA Advisor

Scott Stone Named in the Top 100 Fresh Perspectives

Scott Stone, FFA Advisor at the Centralia High School is among visionaries being recognized nationally through Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives, a search to identify and honor 100 leaders who are changing rural communities and agriculture for the better. The honorees were announced at a National Ag Day event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Farm Credit launched the Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives program as part of its 100th anniversary of service to rural communities and agriculture. As a Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives honoree, Stone joins an impressive list of leaders in agriculture and rural enterprise.

“Farm Credit has supported rural communities and agriculture for 100 years, and we appreciate the vision it takes to remain successful over time in agriculture and rapidly evolving, thriving rural industries,” said David Janish, CEO. “We are delighted to honor Scott Stone as a leader who is helping to define the future of rural communities and agriculture. This honor helps recognize Stone’s work on behalf of rural communities and agriculture, and his ability to further contribute to a vibrant future for rural America.”

“Our most valuable assets in agriculture are the future generation of producers, processors and consumers,” Scott says. “It is my goal to have every student who leaves my classroom more prepared for life. I realize that not all my students will pursue a career in agriculture, but if I can have each student become an advocate for agriculture, then I will have achieved my goal.”

Selected by a panel of experts on rural matters, including Farm Credit leaders and others from around the agriculture industry, honorees like Stone are among the best-of-the-best who are positively shaping what is next for rural communities and agriculture.

Stone has been an agricultural educator for 18 years, teaching more than 1,800 students about the impact agriculture has on their lives. He tells them about the broad range of things they must consider as potential producers, from production systems and record keeping systems, to food safety and the importance of consumer perception.

Recognizing that the industry is changing, Stone has become a national agri-science ambassador. In this role, he strives to improve his own teachings and also share the impact of agriculture with other educators. He has have traveled to four states and presented 12 workshops to more than 200 science and agriculture educators, who in turn will further impact America’s youth with messages about the role and importance of agriculture.

FCS Financial joins the nearly 80 Farm Credit organizations that are celebrating the dynamic future of rural communities and agriculture.
