$1 Million Milestone Ag Youth Funding

"I use the Ag Youth Program to help pay for my cattle and help feed them,” said Zach Schnarre, Centralia 4-H member. Zach and his sisters, Brooke and Blair Schnarre, are the recipients of the millionth dollar of interest-free funding provided to 4-H and FFA youth across Missouri. The Ag Youth Program provides 4-H and FFA members more than just financing, they learn responsibility."

“Each year I sit down with the Schnarre kids and discuss their projects,” says Joe Abbott, loan officer at FCS Financial. “We look at the cash flow they prepared and talk about when they will repay the funds. The Ag Youth Program is not a grant. It’s an interest-free funding program for 4-H and FFA members with the expectation that the funds will be repaid.”

“When I sell my pigs at the county fair, I will pay FCS Financial back,” says Blair Schnarre.

The Ag Youth Program is available to 4-H and FFA members to assist them with start-up expenses for specific projects. The youth have 12 months to repay the funds from the program.

“We were excited to reach $1 million of funding through the Ag Youth Program,” says David Janish, FCS Financial CEO. “FCS Financial is committed to supporting our rural communities and we are extremely pleased with the positive response the program has received since it was started in 2014. The Ag Youth Program helps 4-H and FFA members learn responsibility for a project but also financial responsibility. We see it as the first step in growing tomorrow’s agricultural leaders.”
