The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation recently granted $4,350 to Show Me Youth Ag Academy in Barton County to assist with the Lamar Free Fair livestock show facility.
The Lamar Free Fair is a county livestock show and fair that takes place in the business square. The pavilion is used in August for the Free Fair and throughout the year for farmer’s markets and community events. The Show Me Youth Ag Academy sought funds to install large MacroAir AirLegacy fans to be used for livestock shows during the heat of the summer.
“The Show Me Ag Youth Academy and Lamar Free Fair provide students an opportunity to learn about beef production and develop skills needed to run a beef agribusiness,” says Tammy Bartholomew, Academy Executive Director. “The fans will improve the comfort of livestock, exhibitors and community members by improving air circulation throughout the facility.
The project includes purchasing three fans. The funds provided by FCS Financial will purchase one fan. Other grants are being pursued to cover the purchase of the remaining two fans.
The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation represents the cooperative’s long-term commitment to a thriving and prosperous agricultural industry and our rural communities. The Foundation focuses on targeted, long-term investments.
“Livestock production is important to Missouri agriculture and economy,” says David Janish, FCS Financial CEO. “Equally, FCS Financial feels it is important to help provide essential needs for rural youth to learn the business.”
