The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation recently granted $7,500 to the Northeast Missouri (NEMO) Old Threshers Association in Shelbina to assist with infrastructure upgrades.
The all steel building will be used to provide a covered arena to house agricultural equipment and displays during inclement weather. The facility will also be available for use by other organizations with approval by the NEMO Old Threshers. With a total cost of around $100,000, NEMO Old Threshers Association is funding the project through community grants and donations. The expected completion date is 2022.
“The NEMO Old Threshers Association strives to educate and preserve the agricultural ways and has for over 30 years operated a multi-day event which draws approximately three to five thousand people to Shelbina,” says Don Collop, NEMO Old Threshers Association. “During this event, we also host free tours for school children and care centers within a 75-mile radius of Shelbina drawing an average of 1,500 kids per year from 20 schools.”
