The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation recently granted $10,000 to the University of Missouri Extension in Knox County to assist with establishing the first-ever Knox County 4-H/FFA Fairgrounds.
The 4-H/FFA Fairgrounds project is located on the Edina City Lake property leased from the City of Edina for a term of 50 years. The project will be completed in two phases with a cost of approximately $200,000. The first phase included the construction of a show barn, gates and wash racks this year. The second phase to be completed in 2023 will include a climate-controlled exhibition building, concessions, and restrooms.
“The new building will open up more opportunities for Knox County youth and add value to our programs,” says Crystal Murr, 4-H Youth Program Associate. “We see this project as the beginning of a new chapter in 4-H. It will provide members with a sense of community and belonging while allowing volunteers, local businesses, and organizations the opportunity to come together and build something for future generations to enjoy.”
