The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation recently granted $10,000 to the Better Together Playground in Willard, Mo., to help install an inclusive playground.
A new state-of-the-art playground encompassing 10,000 square feet of inclusive play area will replace an existing non-inclusive playground at Jackson Street Park.
“Now children with disabilities will have the opportunity to play with other children and engage with family members during playtime,” says Marianne Hill, Better Together Playground Board President. “Outdoor play helps children grow into healthy, balanced and resilient adults by supporting motor, sensory, health and cognitive needs.”
The benefits aren’t just limited to children in wheelchairs. According to Better Together Playground, inclusive playgrounds accommodate multiple motor and sensory challenges for all children, facilitate social experiences among people with varying abilities and allow parents and grandparents with mobility devices to play with and closely supervise their children or grandchildren.
