The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation recently granted $5,000 to the Monroe County Extension Foundation in Paris, Mo., for construction of a new office building and community storm shelter.
The new building will house five offices, a conference room, full kitchen and include a walkout basement that will serve as the community storm shelter during inclement weather. Additionally, the basement will be used as a cooling center during the summer and be available to rent for meetings and events.
“This building will help to ensure the longevity of extension and outreach from the University of Missouri in Monroe County,” says Alec Fodge, Extension Council Representative. “Extension offices are staffed with a wide variety of specialists who provide guidance in nutrition, livestock, agriculture, small business development and 4-H programs. This information has a long-reaching, positive impact for the community.”
