The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation recently granted $10,000 to the Nevada R5 Ag Advisory Committee to assist with the purchase and construction of an ag learning center that will be gifted to the Nevada R5 school district.

The learning center will allow students to participate in hands-on education in areas such as animal husbandry nutrition and reproductive physiology. It will also be available for public use for programs associated with the ag curricula. The project is estimated to be complete in the spring of 2022.

“It is our belief that hands-on learning and firsthand experience with production agriculture, especially livestock, will help kids with and those without farm backgrounds to more closely connect with their food sources and the efficient and sustainable production of them,” says Justin Ogle, Nevada R5 Ag Advisory Committee member. “By doing so, we hope to continue to engage and excite our youth to participate in agriculture and learn to improve the industry, beginning at the farm level and ending at the table.”

The FCS Financial Rural Community and Agriculture Foundation represents the cooperative’s long-term commitment to a thriving and prosperous agricultural industry and our rural communities. The Foundation focuses on targeted, long-term investments.

“Increasing production agriculture education and engaging youth in those activities is essential for our industry to grow,” says David Janish, FCS Financial CEO. “Supporting this opportunity enhances the understanding of agriculture and benefits rural communities as well as the overall ag industry.”
